It is already known that BlackBerry experiences financial problems and is looking forward to being sold or at least part of it. This boost is mainly due to the large range of Windows Phone based Nokia devices, which hold 80% of all WP devices on the market. It experienced a staggering 165% rise and now this mobile OS is the third major one on the market. A more interesting number is the 4% market share of Windows Phone. The iOS share is stagnant around the 14%. This is expected and can be explained by the 35% rise of Samsung's smartphone market share plus strong support from Huawei, Lenovo, and Xiaomi. ![]() The market leader is still Android with a 81% market share. Based on these numbers is estimated the penetration of every mobile OS on the market. The main numbers reported 438 million handsets and 244 million smartphones shipped during the Q3 of 2013. A recent market research made by ABI Research regarding the market share of the different mobile operating systems reveals Android's dominance of the market, but also a 165% rise of Windows Phone market share. ![]()
